Michael McKiernan

The Michael McKiernan Indigenous Student Award was founded by Michael McKiernan, a 75-year-old retired optician, originally from Vancouver, British Columbia. Currently residing in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Michael developed this scholarship to help the Indigenous population in Canada, who he believes are underrepresented in the Nation’s social, economic and political agendas. Through this scholarship, Michael hopes to help the next generation of Indigenous youth to achieve their biggest dreams and create a better future for themselves, their communities and Canada.
