BHP is a global resources company headquartered in Melbourne, Australia with its Canadian headquarters in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. BHP has a global workforce of approximately 80,000 people working in locations across Australia, Asia, the UK, US, Canada and the Americas. BHP produces commodities essential for global decarbonization and economic development including copper, nickel, iron ore, metallurgical coal and is developing the Jansen potash project in Saskatchewan, Canada.

Program of Study: Students can be enrolled in any field of study with a preference to mining or minerals related disciplines including but not limited to:

EngineeringEx. Mining (geological), (metallurgy), process, electrical, civil, mechanical, geotechnical, computer, engineering physics   
Natural sciencesEx. Geology, environmental science (earth science), chemistry, biology, physics
Business (degree or diploma)Ex. All disciplines
Computer science 
Technical diploma programsEx. Instrumentation, technician (mine), chemical technician, engineering technology, information technology, occupational health and safety, OHS nursing
TradesEx. Industrial mechanic, electrician, instrumentation, heavy duty mechanic, pipefitter, welder

Level of Study: Any
Indigenous Affiliation: Any
Other: Priority to support students from Saskatchewan with a preference for students from the following communities: Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation, Day Star First Nation, Fishing Lake First Nation, George Gordon First Nation, Kawacatoose First Nation, and Muskowekwan First Nation. Secondary priority to support students from British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba. If there are remaining funds then the Awards can be disbursed to students in the above fields from anywhere in Canada.
