Roberta L. Jamieson

Roberta Jamieson is a Mohawk who has achieved many firsts. She was the first First Nation woman in Canada to earn a law degree; the first woman Ombudsman of Ontario; and the first woman elected Chief of the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory.

As President of Indspire, Canada’s Indigenous-led award winning charity, Roberta has overseen an eightfold increase in the bursaries and scholarships awarded to Indigenous students. $115 million in financial support has gone to more than 37,500 students over the past five years. She has received 27 honorary degrees, earned numerous awards and is an Officer of the Order of Canada.

Roberta L. Jamieson Film & Media Arts Bursary

This bursary of will be distributed annually to one Indigenous student enrolled in a Film or Media Arts field of study, with demonstrated financial need for contribution to education costs.
